Grand Prix of Slovakia is coming to the Slovakia Ring
Orechová Potôň, 10. august 2023 - OMV MaxxMotion Grand Prix of Slovakia (Aug, 18.-20.) comes again to the SLOVAKIA RING autodrome. The historically most important circuit car event in our country will offer a lot of drama on the track, as well as plenty of entertainment around it.
The domain of the Slovak Grand Prix is a wide selection of categories and types of racing cars. For example, GT3 vehicles (Ferrari 458 GT3, Porsche 911 GT3, Audi R8 GT3, BMW M4 GT3, Lamborghini SuperTropheo...) are extremely popular - each with an original engine sound will delight fans in D4 division Sprints. The races are short and the starting field is very even, so the spectators will enjoy lots of thrilling moments. We also look forward to see single-seaters of the F4 category (division D2) and breathtaking prototypes (division D5).
Some well-known faces will be among the drivers of the domestic and foreign scene: Miro Konôpka is a veteran of Slovak motorsport and with his team ARC Bratislava. So far he has been the only Slovak at the start of the most famous endurance race 24 hours of Le Mans, several times. Štefan "Štofi" Rosina Jr. is currently collecting trophies in the European GT2 series and should race in his BMW M4 GT3.
The all-day programme (from Thursday to Sunday) will offer the FIA Central European Zone Trophy (FIA CEZ) in both sprints and endurance, as well as the national circuit championships of Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Austria and Poland. The popular ESET Cup Series has trophies for the best racers in sprints and endurance. Cup series will be completed by Fiat Abarth Cup, Renault Clio Cup and Mazda MX-5 Cup.
The optional Thursday practices will be connected with the official programme on Friday, Aug,18 - we will witness free practices of all divisions and series, as well as the first qualifying races, even two Abarth Cup races. Saturday´s early morning will bring beautiful sound of D2 division formulas. After early morning qualifications spectators will enjoy first sprints of all series and also the final endurance for 1.5 hours with a mandatory change of riders. The same programme of qualifications and exciting sprints will also be held on Sunday, Aug 20.
While the race track will be occupied with non-stop action, the SLOVAKIA RING area will be full of other great attractions. The unique karting center will be open to the public throughout the weekend, the same as extremely popular animal park - Malkia Park (with a 20% discount for holders of Grand Prix tickets). At the opposite end of the area you will find the Military Museum with rides on an armored personnel vehicle (with the same discount applied). OMV prepared a kids zone with various children's attractions. "Tuners" from AMTS and fans of veterans will surely enjoy exhibition of beautiful vehicles. The programme will also be enriched by an air show with the L29 Delfín fighter on both days of the weekend, as well as two original Dakar TATRAs of the Slovak Kazarka team, which also started at this year's Dakar rally and took 3rd place in the Classic class category.
