World motorsport has a green light in Slovakia

Bratislava, October 9, 2024Bringing world motorsport to Slovakia again: this is one of the main goals of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed by representatives of the FIA, SAMŠ and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports today in Bratislava.

Slovak motorsport, like other branches of sport, has been struggling for a long time with a lack of funds for development. While many surrounding countries are ahead in hosting world motorsport series, in Slovakia we are still struggling with a lack of funds to support our own events. However, this may change in the near future, which is to be helped by the Memorandum of Cooperation signed today between the International Automobile Federation FIA represented by its President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, the Slovak Motor Sports Association represented by President Dušan Koblišek and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, whose signatory is Minister Dušan Keketi.

The joint effort of all parties is to create conditions for mutual cooperation, to organise and hold important world motoring events on the territory of the Slovak Republic with state support and with the vision of improving the promotion of the Slovak Republic through international motorsport.

The parties have a priority interest in completing the necessary infrastructure on the territory of the Slovak Republic and creating all the necessary prerequisites for the fulfilment of the conditions for the implementation and organisation of the prestigious events of the World Automobile Championships and at the same time organising the FIA Motorsport Games, as one of the largest motoring festivals in the world.

At the same time, the parties have an eminent interest in ensuring effective support for the development of alternative fuels and motorization in motorsport, aimed at increasing their use in order to reduce CO2 emissions in motorsport.

The signing of the memorandum and the visit of the FIA president to Slovakia is part of his official visit and invitation from the SLOVAKIA RING racing circuit, on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the operation of this complex.
