Slovakia to Welcome a Distinguished Visitor from the World of Motorsport
Orechová Potôň, October 8th, 2024 – Slovakia is set to welcome a distinguished visitor from the world of motorsport. On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the SLOVAKIA RING race track, the president of the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), Mr. Mohammed Ben Sulayem, is coming to Slovakia.
The SLOVAKIA RING race track is celebrating its 15th anniversary since opening. On October 1, 2009, the world became acquainted with the first Slovak professional race track, marking the beginning of a new chapter in our motorsport history. Since then, the circuit has hosted numerous significant motorsport events, including the FIA WTCC World Touring Car Championship, the FIA GT1 World Championship, Blancpain GT, ADAC GT Masters, the FIA ETRC European Truck Racing Championship, and the FIM EWC World Endurance Motorcycle Championship.
The visit of FIA President, Mr. Mohammed Ben Sulayem to Slovakia and the SLOVAKIA RING will include an official audience with the President of the Slovak Republic, Peter Pellegrini, followed by the signing of a memorandum of cooperation at the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, with the participation of Minister Dušan Keketi and the President of the Slovak Motorsport Association (SAMŠ), Dušan Koblišek.
The goal of the memorandum is to create conditions for mutual cooperation, to organize and carry out significant international motorsport events in Slovakia with state support, and to improve the promotion of the Slovak Republic through international motorsport.
The signing of the memorandum with the FIA President, the SAMŠ President, and the Minister of Tourism and Sports is scheduled for Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at 2:30 PM at the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, with participation of distinguished personalities from social spheres and media.
Mr. Ben Sulayem, a UN ambassador for sustainable tourism, will also attend the presentation of the Danube River Trees Initiative, underscoring his commitment to environmental sustainability.
