Autumn rallycross at full speed with a record starting field!

Orechová Potôň, October 21, 2024 – The penultimate October weekend at the SLOVAKIA RING was dedicated to the traditional autumn event - the Rallycross championships of Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and the Central European Zone Trophy. A total of 161 competitors from five European countries lined up at the start. Spectators in the stands witnessed numerous battles and drama right up to the last moment.

During the weekend, drivers in five different divisions of zone races, three national championships, and five affiliated events within the Rallycross Cup showcased their skills on the 1,400-meter track. Friday’s practice sessions and heats primarily featured the Rallycross Cup, with the final races taking place later that same day. The top three drivers in the most populous division, S1600+, were Jiří Čermák in a Honda Civic, Jakub Bittman in a Peugeot 208, and Jiří Kazil in a Škoda Fabia. Among Slovaks, the best performer was Vladimír Marko in a VW Polo, who finished fifth, ahead of sixth-placed Ondrej Tarina in a Škoda Fabia. His brother Jakub in a Seat Leon finished in ninth place.

Saturday afternoon continued with heats for the other divisions, where drivers collected important points for Sunday’s semi- and final races in pleasant sunny weather.

Sunday featured the last heats from the previous day, followed by the semi-final and final races. In beautiful sunny weather, spectators once again witnessed numerous battles and thrilling races right up to the last moments.

The main attraction was traditionally the strongest class, Super Cars, featuring 4x4 specials with over 500 horsepower. In this class, the best performers were Hungarian Máté Benyó in a Peugeot 208, followed by his compatriot István Antal in an Audi A1, and Márk Mózer in a Ford Fiesta in third place.

Spectators experienced exciting battles and drama in the STC-2000 class, where our own Vladimír Marko competed in a VW Polo STC-2000. The early laps were clearly dominated by Roman Častoral, who established a solid lead and maintained it to the finish, winning the division comfortably. Vlado Marko, starting from fifth position, gradually worked his way up to second place, achieving the best result for Slovaks during the rallycross weekend. Third place went to Czech driver Petr Wurm in a VW Golf GTi.

Tight battles were also showcased by drivers in the STC+2000 division, where our Jakub Tarina started from third place in a Seat Leon and maintained this position to the finish with a strategic drive. Ahead of him, Aleš Kubík in a VW Polo RX secured second place, while the victory went to Ondřej Šenk in a Škoda Fabia MK3.

The last motorsport event that will close the season at the SLOVAKIA RING, as well as in Slovakia, will be the traditional exhibition rally KEKO AUTO SHOW on November 15-16, 2024.
