The peak of the motorsport season is approaching

Orechová Potôň, August 4, 2026 - For the 17th time, the SLOVAKIA RING circuit will host one of the most prestigious motorsport events of the season – the OMV MAXXMOTION Grand Prix of the Slovakia. From 21 to 23 August, more than 200 drivers from several European countries will compete on the track, while fans can look forward to an action-packed programme both on and off the circuit.

The event, organized in cooperation with the Slovak Motorsport Association (SAMŠ), will host the national championships of Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Poland, Slovenia, and Croatia. The programme will also feature the FIA Central European Zone (FIA CEZ) Championship, along with popular international series including the FIA Swift Cup Europe, TCR Eastern Europe, Clio Cup Bohemia, GT Cup Series, DN4 Maluch Trophy, and the BMW 3 Series Cup.

"This year, we are expecting an exceptionally strong international field, and we can confidently say these will be the biggest automobile races in Slovakia. Drivers from across Europe will compete in one place, and spectators will enjoy an impressive variety of racing machinery – from compact one-make cup cars to high-performance GT cars and cutting-edge prototypes," said the event organizer.

As always, the biggest attraction will be the GT races, featuring GT3, GT4, GTC, and modern LMP2 and LMP3 prototype cars. The lower categories are equally exciting, providing a platform for emerging talent and often delivering incredibly close battles right down to the chequered flag.

The starting grid will also feature several well-known Slovak drivers, including Miro Konôpka and his sons Adam and Matej, Štefan Rosina, the Sládečka brothers, and rising talent Simon Sikhart. Drivers competing under the guidance of Matej Homola and Richard Gonda will also be represented. Although Matej Homola will unfortunately miss the races due to health issues, fans will have the opportunity to meet him during a special autograph session over the race weekend.

Over the past seventeen years, SLOVAKIA RING has established itself as one of Europe's leading racing circuits. Organizers of international championships particularly value its technically demanding and unique layout, high safety standards, comprehensive facilities, and excellent accessibility, further enhanced by the completion of the R7 expressway.

The event is designed for more than just motorsport enthusiasts. A wide range of family-friendly activities will be available throughout the weekend, including the OMV Kids Zone with inflatable attractions, a chill-out area, racing simulators, a classic and modified car exhibition, karting, the Military Museum, visits to Malkia Park Zoo, and a diverse food and beverage area.

As in previous years, attendance will largely depend on the weather. Under favourable conditions, organizers expect thousands of visitors from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, and other neighbouring countries.

"Motorsport continues to evolve, but nothing can replace the experience of watching real racing. At a time of growing electrification, stricter emissions regulations, and increasing digitalization, the Grand Prix of the Slovak Republic still offers the authentic atmosphere of motorsport – the smell of fuel, the sound of powerful engines, and speed without limits. It's an experience that simply has to be enjoyed in person," the organizer added.

The 2026 OMV MAXXMOTION Grand Prix of the Slovak Republic will take place from 21 to 23 August at SLOVAKIA RING in Orechová Potôň, Slovakia.
