STU invited students to study engineering in Slovakia through a special event
Bratislava, April 28, 2026 - “Study engineering in Slovakia” – an event under this title was organized by Slovak University of Technology v Bratislave for high school students, teachers, and career counselors at the Slovakia Ring complex in Orechová Potôň. By combining technology, speed, and innovation, the organizers aimed to highlight the importance of technical education as a key factor in the country’s development. The event was held under the patronage of the President of the Slovak Republic, Peter Pellegrini.
The aim was to present technical fields of study to hundreds of young people as an attractive choice with real career opportunities both in Slovakia and abroad. The organizers – Slovenská technická univerzita v Bratislave, Slovakia Ring, and Smart Mobility Lab, in cooperation with partners – presented the ecosystem of modern mobility, ranging from batteries and materials, through vehicle design, autonomous systems and artificial intelligence, to smart transport infrastructure. Students gradually passed through thematic zones that symbolically follow the “story of a car” – from energy and materials to intelligent transport of the future. Along the way, they could see the results of research and study opportunities related to topics offered at Slovenská technická univerzita v Bratislave, which covers practically the entire value chain of the automotive industry and connects research, innovation, and practice.
From an automotive perspective, it is crucial that students gain contact with real industrial environments already during their studies. STU therefore maintains long-term cooperation with Slovakia Ring, where it implements several projects combining research, testing, and practical education. Thanks to these activities, it is able to provide education fully comparable with leading technical universities abroad.
“At Slovakia Ring, new technologies and innovations are tested, pushing the limits of speed and precision. It is a very dynamic world, and here we can see in real time what modern engineering and development mean today. It is a world that is changing faster than ever before and that needs skilled, creative, and above all courageous people – and this is exactly the character of our students. We wanted to bring this world closer to high school students and show them that it is real and achievable right here at our university. Personally, I believe that technical education is one of the best investments in the future – not only for them, but for our entire country,” explained STU Rector Maximilián Strémy.
“Technical education in Slovakia has a strong tradition and at the same time enormous potential for the future. We see the ‘Study Engineering in Slovakia’ event as an important bridge between secondary schools, the university, and practice. Our ambition is to show young people that engineering is not only about studying, but also a path to innovation, creativity, and real employment in modern industry,” added the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at STU, Ľubomír Šooš.
Visitors to the “Study Engineering in Slovakia” event could also see demonstrations of modern batteries and hydrogen technologies that are shaping the future of mobility. These included thermal imaging measurements, presentations of hydrogen applications in practice – including a truck and a bus powered by this type of propulsion – as well as fuel cells and technologies with the potential to power entire cities.
