Great FIA ETRC trucks kicked off in Italy

Orechová Potôň, May 20, 2025 - This past weekend, the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship - ETRC kicked off at the circuit in the Italian city of Misano. The OMV MaxxMotion Goodyear FIA ETRC Truck Race of Slovakia will take place at the SLOVAKIA RING on June 7 and 8.

The start of the truck racing season belonged to the races at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli on May 17 and 18. The main star of the weekend was reigning champion Norbert Kiss from Hungary (Révész Racing), who delivered a dominant performance and won all four races.

Saturday Qualifying

The qualifying session was affected by technical issues for Norbert Kiss, who couldn't compete for pole position due to a steering failure on his new MAN truck. As a result, Germany's Jochen Hahn (Team Hahn Racing) set the fastest time and secured pole position for the first race (Race 1).

Race 1 (Saturday)

Winner: Norbert Kiss (Révész Racing)
2nd place: Jochen Hahn (Team Hahn Racing)
3rd place: Steffi Halm (Team Schwabentruck)

Kiss started from 16th place, but thanks to an excellent drive, he worked his way up to second behind Hahn. After Hahn received a five-second time penalty for a rule violation, Kiss was promoted to first place.

Race 2 (Saturday – reverse grid)

Winner: Norbert Kiss (Révész Racing)
2nd place: René Reinert (Reinert Racing)
3rd place: Sascha Lenz (SL Trucksport 30)

Kiss started from eighth position (the top 8 from Race 1 start in reverse order) and took the lead by the sixth lap, which he held until the finish.

Sunday Qualifying

After Saturday's technical issues, Norbert Kiss (Révész Racing) returned to qualifying aiming for pole position in the third race of the weekend. In a dramatic battle with Jochen Hahn (Team Hahn Racing), he managed to secure it with a time of 2:01.590, beating Hahn by 0.254 seconds.

Spain’s Antonio Albacete (T Sport Bernau) qualified third, while Germany’s Steffi Halm (Team Schwabentruck) qualified fourth.

Race 3 (Sunday)

Winner: Norbert Kiss (Révész Racing)
2nd place: Jochen Hahn (Team Hahn Racing)
3rd place: Steffi Halm (Team Schwabentruck)

Kiss defended his pole position and, after fending off an early challenge from Hahn, held the lead to the finish.

Race 4 (Sunday – reverse grid)

Winner: Norbert Kiss (Révész Racing)
2nd place: Steffi Halm (Team Schwabentruck)
3rd place: Sascha Lenz (SL Trucksport 30)

The race was marked by a collision between Antonio Albacete and Luke Garrett, which led to a red flag. After the restart, Kiss quickly advanced from eighth to fifth in the first corner and went on to secure his fourth victory of the weekend.

Overall Standings after Misano:

  1. Norbert Kiss (Révész Racing) – 60 points

  2. Jochen Hahn (Team Hahn Racing) – 45 points

  3. Steffi Halm (Team Schwabentruck) – 37 points

Kiss has thus built a 15-point lead over Hahn after the first event. The next round of the championship takes place on May 24–25 at Germany’s Lausitzring.
