Record-breaking start of Hill Climb Race

Orechová Potôň, April 8th, 2024 – The opening event of the official Slovak Hill Climb Championship (MSR PAV) called HILL CLIMB RACE SLOVAKIA RING started with a record number of competitors. In addition to the Slovak Championship our neighbors from the Czech Republic also made their debut.

A total of 74 participants sent in an applcation for 2 MSR PAV races, as well as for the International Slovak Championship, the Slovak Hill Climb Championship of Historic Vehicles, the Slovak Hill Climb Cup, the Czech Republic Championship, and the Czech Hill Climb Championship of Historic Vehicles. Eventually, 67 racers from Slovakia and the Czech Republic started.

Race day was blessed with sunny and warm weather. As temperatures rose throughout the day, the right tire choice became crucial for the timed runs. Participants had a total of 7 runs available - 3 for practice and 4 for Races.

The fastest driver in Race 1 among all participants was Václav Janík from the ORLEN I Janík Motorsport team driving NORMA M 20 FC. He conquered the 3400 m track in his first competitive run with a time of 1min 17.216s. Second was Petr Vítek from Climart Racing team driving his Osella PA 30, followed by the fastest Slovak racer, Martin Juhás from MRM Motorsport Galanta team, driving LOLA B03/51.

In the MSR PAV category, Martin Juhás performed best, followed by Mojmír Čambal from RS Team in his Hyundai i 30N TCR and Vilo Liedl from Windscape Racing team, making his debut in this competition with his Tatuus FR2000.

In the MSR PAV Race 2, Martin Juhás claimed the top spot again, followed by Martin Matuška in his Tomis 99-04 and Mojmír Čambal from RS team in Hyundai i30N TCR.

In the historic category, Miloš Zmeškal secured victory in both races in Ralt 032, ahead of Tibor Hauser driving his Škoda 130RS.

In the Slovak Hill Climb Cup, the top finishers in the first race were Ján Boldiš from Aries Racing, driving his VW Golf, followed by Vladimír Podmajerský in his Peugeot 206 RC and Ivan Vanko in Škoda Felicia. In the second race, Ján Boldiš claimed the fastest time again, followed by Vladimír Podmajerský and Michal Bomba driving Honda Civic Type-R.

Entry for spectators was free, with the access to Grandstands A/B along with paddock.
