The Hill Climb Race has successfully started!
Orechová Potôň, April 6, 2025 – The opening event of the official Slovak Hill Climb Championships, called HILL CLIMB RACE SLOVAKIA RING, has kicked off with a record number of participants. Alongside the Slovak Championship, the Czech Republic championship also made its debut here, just like last year.
A total of 100 participants registered for the double-header event, which included the International Slovak Republic Hill Climb Championship, the Slovak Hill Climb Championship of Historic Vehicles, the Slovak Hill Climb Cup, the new Toyota Yaris GR CUP, the Czech Republic Hill Climb Championship, and the Czech Republic Hill Climb Championship for Historic Vehicles. Ultimately, 87 drivers started on Saturday, and 85 on Sunday, predominantly from Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
The first competition day was marked by sunny and warm weather. As temperatures rose both in the air and on the track, the choice of the correct tires proved to be crucial in the final results of the competitive runs. Participants had a total of 8 runs available – 4 practice runs and 4 competitive runs. The second competition day, however, was less favorable weather-wise, with a significant drop in temperature and strong, unpleasant winds accompanying both practice and competitive runs.
The fastest driver on the first race was Petr Trnka from AMK ECCE HOMO Štemberk in the ÚAMK team, driving a NORMA M 20 FC single-seater. He completed the 3200m track in 1 minute 10.148 seconds during his first competitive run. In second place was Czech Václav Janík from Janík Motorsport ACCR Czech team, also driving a NORMA M 20 FC 30, and third place was claimed by David Komárek from Komvet Racing team, driving a McLaren F1 Evo 2019.
In the International Slovak Championship (MMSR), the best performances came from Petr Trnka, followed by Václav Janík in second place and the fastest Slovak, Martin Juhás from Aries Racing team, in third place, driving a LOLA B03/51.
In the second race of the MMSR, the winner was Václav Janík from Janík Motorsport ACCR Czech team in a NORMA M 20 FC 30, followed by Martin Juhás in second place and Martin Dědek from Janík Motorsport ACCR Czech team in third, driving a Norma M 20 FC.
In the historic car class, the top spot in both races was claimed by Miloš Zmeškal in a Ralt 032, followed by Marcel Beník in a Lucchini SN 89/90 and Aleš Gänsdorfer in an MTX 1-10.
In the Slovak Hill Climb Cup, the fastest drivers in the overall standings of the first race were Vladimir Podmajerský in a Peugeot 206 RC, followed by Robert Kováč in a Fiat Punto and Július Roziak in a Lada VFTS. In the second race, the top three were again Vladimir Podmajerský in a Peugeot 206, followed by Július Roziak in a Lada VFTA.
The event also attracted attention due to the debut of well-known circuit racer Matej Homola, who decided to participate in all the Slovak Hill Climb Championship races this season. His debut with the BRP Motorsport team in a Hyundai i30N TCR resulted in two class wins (3a) and victories in the two-wheel drive category.
In the new Yaris GR Cup, Simon Sikhart from Todos Racing team was the most successful driver on both days of the event, winning on Saturday ahead of Jakub Vojtek and Sára Juricová, and on Sunday ahead of Erik Mucsky and Jakub Vojtek, both also from Todos Racing team.
The event was open to the public, with free entry to the open stands and paddock area, where spectators could view the racing cars.
