Hill Climb Race is heading to SLOVAKIA RING. Maťo Homola will also be on the starting grid
Orechová Potôň, October 10, 2026 - SLOVAKIA RING will host another round of the DYNAMAX International Slovak Championship in Hill Climb Race on October 10–11, 2026. The unusual “hills” of the race circuit will bring thrilling battles against the clock, more than 40 registered drivers, and an exceptionally diverse range of racing machinery. One of the biggest attractions will be the participation of Maťo Homola, who is successfully returning to competitive racing after a period away due to health issues.
Hill Climb Race is traditionally associated with closed mountain roads, hairpin bends and spectators lining the route. At SLOVAKIA RING, however, things will be a little different. HILL CLIMB RACE SLOVAKIA RING will bring this traditional motorsport discipline to the setting of a professional racing circuit.
The competition course will be 3,200 metres long, with the start located at the exit of the pit lane and the finish at its entrance. On both Saturday and Sunday, drivers will complete two practice runs followed by two competitive runs. The final classification will be determined by the combined times from the two best competitive runs.
The event has international competition status and, alongside the DYNAMAX International Slovak Championship, points will also be awarded over the weekend towards the Slovak Historic Car Championship, Slovak Hill Climb Cup, Toyota Yaris GR Cup and Slovak Historic Regularity Trophy.
Maťo Homola continues his successful comeback
One of the most closely watched names will undoubtedly be Maťo Homola, who is gradually returning to competitive racing following health issues. He made his first start after his forced medical break at the previous hill climb event in Huty, and his comeback could not have gone better – he won.
At SLOVAKIA RING, he will compete in a Hyundai i30 N TCR run by BRP Motorsport. For one of Slovakia's best-known circuit racers, the event will also provide an interesting combination: a home circuit he knows very well, but this time in a completely different format – hill climb racing.
More than 40 drivers and an exceptionally diverse field
The current entry list already features more than 40 drivers and offers a fascinating mix of modern racing specials, rally cars, touring cars, prototypes, single-seaters and historic machinery.
In addition to Maťo Homola, spectators can look forward to Martin Koiš in a Ford Fiesta Rally4, Patrik Dilong in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII and Peter Salon in another Hyundai i30 N TCR.
The impressive group of sports prototypes and single-seaters will include Mojmír Čambal with a Norma M20 FC, Martin Juhás with a Lola B03/51, Marcel Beník with a Lucchini SN 89/90 and Tomáš Beník with a Reynard Lotus Formula Opel. Historic machinery will also add plenty of variety, including the legendary Škoda 130 RS of Gabriela Kramlová and Ján Šima's Audi Quattro.
The Toyota Yaris GR Cup will form another distinct part of the event, bringing an additional group of drivers to SLOVAKIA RING. This diversity is one of the greatest attractions of hill climb racing – on a single course and during one event, spectators can see racing machinery from different generations and with completely different technical concepts competing side by side.
“Hill climbs” from the comfort of the covered grandstand
SLOVAKIA RING will give fans the opportunity to experience hill climb racing in a slightly different way than is usual for the discipline. Instead of moving along a mountain course, spectators will be able to enjoy the action from the comfort of the covered main grandstand, watching drivers battle the clock in a safe and comfortable racing environment.
The programme will start at 9:00 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday with the first practice run. After two practice runs, the first competitive run will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by the second. The results ceremony and prize-giving are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on both days.
For motorsport fans, the event will also be a unique opportunity to see in one place vehicles that would practically never line up alongside each other in a conventional circuit race.
Not satisfied with just watching? Try the course in the OPEN category
HILL CLIMB RACE SLOVAKIA RING will not be just an invitation for spectators. The organisers are also catering to active drivers and motorsport enthusiasts who would like to experience the atmosphere of racing from the other side of the barrier.
The OPEN category has been created specifically for them, offering the opportunity to drive on the same course and experience a battle against the clock. It is particularly appealing to drivers who regularly attend Track Days or open driving sessions at SLOVAKIA RING and would like to try something completely different.
Instead of conventional circuit laps, participants will tackle a course prepared in the style of a hill climb and have the opportunity to compare both their driving skills and their times. For many, the OPEN category could provide their first experience of this motorsport discipline.
HILL CLIMB RACE SLOVAKIA RING will therefore combine professional motorsport, an attractive and exceptionally diverse range of racing machinery, and the opportunity for drivers to get behind the wheel themselves over the weekend of October 10–11. Whether you want to watch Maťo Homola and Slovakia's other hill climb drivers from the covered grandstand, or experience the 3.2-kilometre course yourself, the second weekend of October at SLOVAKIA RING will belong to hill climb racing.
