Roaring Trucks Back in Slovakia: SLOVAKIA RING to Host the Second Round of the FIA ETRC European Championship

Orechová Potôň, June 1, 2026 - This weekend, June 6th and 7th, one of Europe's most attractive motorsport championships - the Goodyear FIA European Truck Racing Championship (FIA ETRC) returns to the SLOVAKIA RING. The second event of the 2026 season will bring battles of over five-ton racing trucks to the Slovak circuit, which fascinate fans every year with their combination of power, close racing, and a unique atmosphere. In addition to Europe's elite truck racers, visitors can look forward to a rich program of support series and plenty of attractions for the whole family.

The European Elite Among Racing Trucks

The Goodyear FIA ETRC is Europe's premier racing truck competition and stands as one of the most unique disciplines in global motorsport. The starting grid regularly features factory and privateer teams showcasing purpose-built racing machinery from brands like MAN, IVECO, Freightliner, and Renault. These massive vehicles, weighing over five tons, boast power outputs exceeding 1,000 horsepower, though their top speed is electronically limited to 160 km/h for safety reasons. It is precisely this evenly matched performance and bumper-to-bumper contact racing that makes the FIA ETRC one of the most spectator-attractive series in motorsport.

In the 2026 season, seven teams and more than ten top-tier drivers are battling for the European title. The championship also includes the Chrome class, dedicated to drivers and teams without factory backing.

Kiss Leads the Championship, Hahn is Breathing Down His Neck

The second round of the season at the SLOVAKIA RING comes just one week after the opening event in Misano, Italy. The provisional standings after the first of seven rounds point to an incredibly tight title fight.

Defending European Champion Norbert Kiss (Révész Racing – MAN) leads the championship with 46 points. The experienced Jochen Hahn follows just four points behind (42 points), with Sascha Lenz in third (37 points). Rounding out the top five after the opening weekend are Lukas Hahn (34 points) and Antonio Albacete (30 points).

In the Chrome category standings, Lukas Hahn leads ahead of John Newell and Stefan Kursch.

Misano: Three Victories for Kiss, First Triumph for Hahn

The season opener in Misano belonged primarily to Norbert Kiss. The Hungarian driver won three out of the weekend's four races, kicking off his title defense in grand style.

The only victory that eluded Kiss went to Jochen Hahn in Race 3. Following contact between the two favorites, Kiss finished down in sixth place, while Hahn triumphed ahead of his son, Lukas. Antonio Albacete completed the podium. However, Kiss bounced back in the final fourth race; after a brilliant start, he took the lead on the very first lap and cruised comfortably to his third victory of the weekend.

The event also marked a historic milestone with the debut of the new Goodyear tires, made from 60% sustainable materials. Additionally, Kiss claimed the inaugural fan-voted Wingfoot Award.

GT Cup Series, F4, and Endurance TCR Will Also Feature at the SLOVAKIA RING

Truck racing won't be the only attraction of the weekend. The organizers have lined up an action-packed program of other popular racing series.

Fans can look forward to the GT Cup Series, featuring GT-class machinery from brands like Porsche, Lamborghini, and Mercedes. The schedule also includes the FIA CEZ F4 races, which serve as a stepping stone for future formula racing stars.

The program will be further bolstered by the TCR European Endurance - a touring car endurance series that will bring one-hour races with an international grid.

A Family Motorsport Festival

The event at the SLOVAKIA RING has long been about more than just racing. Throughout the weekend, visitors will have paddock access, allowing them to watch the teams work up close and meet the drivers during autograph sessions.

A rich supporting program has also been prepared, including a children's and OMV Kids zone, public go-karting, a classic and tuned car meet, an air show, visits to the Military Museum, or the Malkia Park—the largest private zoo in Slovakia. The event will also feature the popular Grid Walk, giving fans the chance to step directly onto the starting grid just moments before the truck races begin.

The combination of roaring trucks, top-tier circuit racing series, and a family-friendly atmosphere makes the OMV MaxxMotion Goodyear FIA ETRC Truck Race of Slovakia one of the biggest motorsport events of the year in Slovakia.
