Historical Overview – Beginnings in Piešťany (1949–1989)

The first international race - the Slovak Grand Prix – took place in Piešťany, starting in 1949. The races moved from city streets to the airport and were an exceptionally important event - the second largest after the Brno Grand Prix. The last edition was held here in 1989.

Revival at SLOVAKIA RING (2010 – present)

After a long break, the Slovak Grand Prix was revived in 2010 at the then newly opened Slovakia Ring racetrack, as part of the Slovak and Central European championships.

About 250 riders from 9 countries have participated in recent editions, including notable names like Milan Pawelec (PL – middle class 600 cc), Tomáš Tóth (SK – STK 600), Daniel Chovanec (SK – 400 SSP), Marcel Hruboš and Peter Rauch (SK – 125 SP), Lukáš Fikker (CZ – 125 SP), Zdeněk Sedlák and Štefan Rybár (Ducati Cup), and Šárka Schmidtová (CZ – Oldtimer).

The Slovak Grand Prix (July 11–13) should be a must-visit event for every motorcycle fan. More information can be found at www.slovakakiaring.sk
